Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing product- used mine over 3,000 times I had twins, born premature at 32 weeks. One twin never latched so I needed to exclusively pump for him. My pump got over 3,000 pump sessions and it’s still going strong. I was able to get good enough stimulation to be able to exclusively provide breastmilk for 7 months to both twins. The battery life is very good, and I love how this pump is small enough to clip onto your jeans and how it doesn’t need to stay plugged in for use. When I purchased this, I never realized how it would be such a big part of my life as I expected to nurse both my babies, but given the circumstances I’m so grateful for the gift of giving my son breastmilk and that’s all because of this product. I’m forever grateful!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hate the collection assembly! For reference, I have a spectra and the regular medela and am second time mom forced to exclusively pump..... again. I have a reg medela, spectra and the freestyle. Honestly I like the freestyle best. Pumps better that the spectra and gentler than other medela. HOWEVER the collection cups LEAK all the time. So to be a low supply pumper it’s VERY upsetting to loose half on what you’ve pumped.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolutely horrible. Wasted so much milk and time New mom, pump leaks milk out the back if only slightly tipped, and less than a month in only able to pump one breast at a time due to complete loss of suction in machine. Only adds to new mom stress level Already wasted money on new tubing and new parts that attached to the tubing. Don’t waste your money

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible product Terrible product, bad suction. Stops working after a couple uses. Complete waste of money as I will have to buy a pump that works.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste you $ We received our first Freestyle which worked for about 6 weeks, once we went through the troubleshooting and brought it to a lactation consultant we were sent a new one which worked for about 1 week and one side of the breast pump stopped suctioning. As a new mom at the time, I would never recommend this pump, way to stressful of a time to be finicking around with a brand new machine.

Can I boil tubing?

Asked by: Sid82
Hi Sid82--- We do not recommend boiling the tubing. The tubing should only be washed if milk ever gets into it or it becomes dirty. Our cleaning instructions for tubing are as follows:1. Rinse tubing in cool water.2. Wash tubing in warm, soapy, water.3. Rinse tubing with clear water.4. Hang to air dry. Please feel free to chat with us on our website if you have any questions!

Do your pumps operate on a closed or open system?

Asked by: Jenellematt
In the market, the term "closed" refers to a membrane that blocks milk from entering the tubing or motor. Medela calls this membrane Overflow Protection, and it is part of every Medela breast pump, both personal-use and hospital-grade (multi-user) breast pumps. Medela breast pumps are therefore, by market definition, considered to be closed systems. Our Symphony and Pump in Style Advanced have this Overflow Protection at the pump. Our Freestyle and Sonata have the Overflow Protection at the Breast Shield Connector. If you have further questions, please feel free to chat with us on our website. We're always happy to help!
