How do I know if the spots in my tubing are water spots or milk spots? When i pump, i run my pump afterwards to dry it out, but I still have spots. I just want to make sure I don't make my baby sick

Asked by: Kyleemom
You will normally see the milk flowing back into the tubing and causing milk spots if that is the case. If you have recently washed your tubing or use your breast pump with parts that are still wet, then they are more than likely water spots. The water spots can be caused by the mineral deposits in hard water. The mineral deposits are not toxic. If you find that they are water spots, you'll want to ensure that you are washing your parts with drinking quality or bottled water. Doing so will help get rid of those spots. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to chat with us on our website. We're available 24 hours a day, 5 days a week, and Saturdays until 12pm CST!

Is it possible to get a baby to latch at 2 months old when they are only use to a bottle I pump exclusively but would like to have him latch

Asked by: Ashley710
Hi Ashley710--- We would advise you to reach out to your lactation consultant for more information on how to best transition to breastfeeding. We do also have a subscription to our 24/7 LC available if you'd like to call, chat, email, or video chat with a lactation consultant. Another great option is to consult with our Lactation Consultant via email at no cost by visiting Ask the LC here: https://www.medelabreastfeedingus.com/ask-the-lc.
