Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the money! My little one was having trouble switching from breast to nipple. She would cry if we got a bottle with breastmilk anywhere near her!! I had to go back to work. We tried many others before getting this one. I like that she gets at her own pace rather than being drowned with milk (even with slow flow). These do seem expensive but were the only things that worked for us.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great nipple Baby has done great with these, he has no trouble transitioning from bottle while I'm at work to breast. with other nipples like dr browns he would be a little confused when I came home now it's seemless. also they go straight onto the medela bottle that I pump into which makes for less dishes! the shipping from Wal-Mart terrible though, I would order these from another retailer. 2 day shipping became 2 weeks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth Transition Love this nipple! Life saver for new mom trying to breastfeed and dad wanting to help. Baby transitioned from breast to bottle back to breast with success! I do recommend you use the same technique to latch to breast when using bottle to ensure baby opens mouth wide when back on breast.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best nipple My two week old took it right away. I had to go back to school, even though I'm breastfeeding i have to leave my house for three hours and my baby just knows when I leave and she'll wake up. The only problem was at the beginning the baby needs to suck really hard to get those first of milk. Once that was done the baby didn't even notice the difference. They're expensive though.

Do Medela Calma nipples come in a slow and/or medium flow ... Or is it one generic nipple for a new born.

Asked by: Cmat
Calma is the slow flow version of the Medela brand. My child preferred the Tommy Tippee over this but it came highly recommended by my lactation nurse.

i have a brand new Calma nipple that came with my pump. it states it flows with baby, creates a seal when they stop & shouldn't leak but for some reason it does leak when I tip it &it feels like infant is gussling the milk and it comes out fast? defect?

how long are the nipples good before they need to be changed?

Asked by: srini
Our son is 9 months old and still using these with no visible signs of damage. I imagine they'll last well through his first year. He only has his 2 bottom teeth right now though, so I suppose it's possible that would change if he starts to chew on them with more teeth eventually, but they seem to be pretty high quality so I think they'll be fine. We have 4 total and use them every day.

What is the bottle nipple made of? Is it silicon or plastic?

Asked by: DrCarebear
That's a great question! They are made of Silicone. Medela prides itself on having safe reliable products, that’s why we only use the safest food grade plastics for all parts that touch breast milk. All parts that touch breast milk are made without BPA, BPS, DEHP, PVC, and Phthalates. Please consider chatting with us on our website if you have any further questions. Have a great day!
