Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features I bought this back in 2014 for my first child after trying different brands and even though it takes time. I loved it and makes no noise. I used it during working hours

Rated 4 out of 5 by from please add rubber gasket The first time I used this product it was nearly 9 years ago. I bought it over the electric because I felt it gave me more dignity. which is why I bought it again with my second child in 2017 and kept using it with my 3rd in 2018. Honestly, I love this product. However, I only have 1 simple complaint that I am surprised you no one has thought of telling you how to fix it. the Finish leaks when knocked over. You can fix this by adding a rubber gasket. Please add this. Thank you

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Where do I get replacement pieces? I like the hand pump very much, especially great for substitute teaching when your daily schedule is different and you are at different schools and not always know where an outlet is located. However, I need to replace a part that is critical for suction. I always take the pump apart to clean it and now the yellow piece in the handle has stopped creating adequate suction. I need a replacement piece and am not sure where to get it. It would be great if Medela had a site where replacement pieces could be purchased.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great hand pump I lost the O ring on mine while washing before realizing it was a thing, I received free replacement part from Medela! Great customer service experience. I ended up buying a second hand pump to keep at work, the suction is great and there's no noise. Definitely the best hand pump for me. Better than the lansinoh one (more suction). Thought it was a little expensive for a hand pump, hence 4 instead of 5

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great for on the go I was given this at the hospital with the birth of my son who was struggling with regulating his sugar and temperature and being to tired to nurse properly. I've used plenty of pumps before, this being my 3rd child. I absolutely loved it. Easy to use, quiet, great for on the go pumps and I felt like it drew out more milk than an electric one. I actually liked this pump more than the electric one and I was able to easily pack it in a diaper bag or in my pump bag for work in case my electric one wouldn't work for one reason or another. Its lasted up until now. This past week I'd lost suction and I couldn't figure out why. Today throughly inspecting it, I found the diaphram part had cracked along the seam. It was allowing air in and losing the suction. In looking up the product information I'm disappointed the warranty is only for 30 days. For something so integral to our busy mom lives I feel like they would back their product up a little bit better. But in reading other reviews it seems they know it has a limited time use. In short, I loved the pump but I wish it held up better in the long run.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I love the hand pump--but there is a defect This is my second harmony hand pump and I absolutely LOVE the hand pump option for travel or quick pumping when you don't want to take out all the parts and pieces of the electric pump. When I had my second child last year I bought a new harmony because I accidentally threw away the handle of the old one. BIG MISTAKE. I thought something was wrong with my supply but then I realized that the new handle was missing a part/piece and the suction was totally off!!! I threw away my receipt and I can't remember where I got it (mom brain) or I would return it. There is a noticeable difference between the suction on the first pump I had and this second one. AND I remember the silicon piece firmly attaching to the old one where this new one is so flimsy. SEE PICTURES... SO if you buy a Harmony pump make sure you check that it is not defective before you buy it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great pump until suction stops I started using this pump right after birth and it worked well for about a month, then I suddenly couldn't even pump 1oz. O-ring seemed out of place, and am not able to get a replacement in my country. I would still recommend it, but having to buy replacement parts all the time (especially after using it for such a short time) is frustrating.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It’s okay I bought this because I wanted to have it just Incase I had trouble breastfeeding and it turned out I did , I’ve been using it for almost 2 and a half weeks now and at first it was great I felt the suction and I was getting a lot of milk now I don’t feel the suction and I think it’s because the silicone that is in the handle part has a hole that seems to be getting bigger which is making it super difficult to get milk I’m having to pump forever I’m trying to make it work until I buy a electric pump but I’m so disappointed that this has happened in just a short amount of time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Thought it was better than electric pump until... I bought this a few days ago and was so excited to try it. I heard it was better than electric pumps and sure enough on my first use I got 5 oz on one side which I NEVER got before. So the next morning I went to use it again and sure suction. After reading reviews I heard this was common and people mentioned the 0-ring. So I went to adjust it and it snapped in two in about 2 seconds. I went to Home Depot and found a replacement that fits. Now the problem is the handle keeps popping off. I really wanted to love this product but it’s just been nothing but problems.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great For a Minute Loved this the first day or 2. It got more than any other pump ever has. But literally within 3 days of buying it the valve cracked somehow and now the whole pump is worthless. And I know it's easy to buy replacements but you shouldn't have to after 3 days of owning it.. Very disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Initially great, then frustrating I generally do not write product reviews. However, I am so frustrated with Medela, that I cannot go without this being said. As most others who use a pump, I too, had to go back to work shortly after giving birth. That in itself is hard. Pumping during your short break(s) throughout the day makes it harder. Therefore it would be nice to have a product that makes this situation easier. Initially I was using the double electric pump, which freed my hands to do other things, like paperwork, while pumping. While it worked, it was very cumbersome and time consuming. Through friends, I was given the advice to try a hand-held pump as they had found those useful. So I got this one. And the first two months I really loved it 100 times more than the electric one. It was smaller, less to clean, easy to use, and I was able to pump quite a bit in shorter time. ***However!!! two months have just barely passed and now it no longer works. There is no suction being created. Reading the reviews here, I am not the only one who has run into this problem. Now, a company that has specialized in devices to help moms (and has probably made its $ share from these products) should know that if you're pumping, you are most likely having to do this every work day. That means the product is being used and cleaned every day. There should not be that much wear and tear within two months, that replacement pieces are needed - for 50% of the cost of the whole pump! Shame on you, Medela, if that is the quality of product you make. You just lost a customer and any recommendations for your brand’s products to others in my community.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Low Inconsistent Pressure I brought this a few nights ago when my regular hand pump went out. With my over hand pump I could empty my breast after a feeding and get a eat 2 extra ounces out. With this one I was struggling to get one before it was too weak to have good suction. The swivel head must stay lined up to have any type of suction. I would not recommend this pump to someone that pumps regularly. I got mine from Walmart for about 30 dollars.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would be great if the o-ring wasn’t such a pain I bought this pump, as I need one occasionally. It worked great the first few times, and then the o-ring was lost on the pump handle and it became useless. Costs $20 to buy replacement o-ring, and paddle assembly but all I needed was a new o-ring. The pump is completely useless without it, would not purchase again unless they start selling it with replacement o-rings and offering o-rings for purchase, as it inevitably falls off. Such a disappointment because the pump was good otherwise.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I had this same pump with my first child 3 1/2 years ago and had no problem with it. Bought it again just a month ago for my 2nd child and it worked great when I first started using it but yesterday the suction started going. Very disappointed. Went out and bought a different brand pump.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed PUrchased this as an alternative to the dual pump in hopes this would be an easy and quick way to pump milk and on the go. Unfortunately will not be using this as there is barely any suction, feels like nothing at all and does not do anything to produce milk

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No suction. Handle falls off while using I'm so frustrated with this manual pump. I wish that I can upload a video for you all to see how terrible it has been for me. It does not suction whatsoever !!! and I have to move the handle up-and-down in order for it to semi work. And by semi I mean I might get a couple mls in 20 minutes Whereas I'll get up to 90mls in 20 minutes using the Medela Symphony electric pump.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great pump that keeps breaking. My very first hand pump was given to me by a hospital in which I delivered my first baby 3 and a half years ago. I absolutely loved it! I had an insane amount of milk and needed to pump often as I was working on decreasing my supply. I also was a working mom. So this pump was used in the office, on the air plane, airport, car, home. You name it. One thing kept breaking though. The handle that holds the silicone part that creates suction, somehow it kept ripping every few months. I tried other pumps and hated they way they felt. I actually bought like 5 pumps because it kept happening. Two months ago, I had my second baby. I got this pump again hoping I’ll have better luck, two months later am once again in need of another pump. I love this pump so much but so frustrated!!!!! I can’t be buying a whole new pump every time. I think I’ll try to get used to a different brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopped working after a month I bought this as a way to relieve pressure on my breasts when my daughter eats on the other side. I've only used this less than 10 times and it had stopped working. The suction no longer helps to express breast milk. Disappointed as I thought I was getting a quality product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Missing O-Ring Problems! I have never written a negative review for anything, but my experience with this pump has prompted me to write this review. I purchased this pump at Target one week ago for $29.99. The pump itself works great and I can pump more milk with this manual pump than with my electric Medela Pump-In-Style. The problem is that there is a very tiny white o-ring that easily comes off and gets lost. Without the o-ring, the pump is useless! I contacted customer service and was told that I could purchase a replacement part kit for $21.99, and that they were aware of the problem with the o-rings, but could not offer any other option to me other than to pay $21.99 (almost the cost of a new pump) for replacement parts that I don't need. I went to three hardware/home improvement stores looking for an o-ring that I could use, but no one had one that would fit. I would think that Medela should provide a few extra o-rings with the pump, as they provide extra flanges (which are also small, get lost easily, and need frequent replacing). At the very least, it would be nice to be able to order extra o-rings (without paying for parts I don't need). I was shocked when I contacted customer service and was told that they were aware of the issue, but really did not have a good solution to the problem! As a new mother, I do not have time to deal with this problem, so I hope my review saves other mothers some time. If you choose to buy this pump, whatever you do...don't lose the o-ring!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don’t waste your money Buyer beware! I used this pump about twice a week and while I felt like I had great control with it, the customer service and parts leave something to be desired. Every time I took it apart to wash it the little O ring that creates the suction managed to pop off. You have to be so careful not to lose it, it’s very tiny! The one time I forgot to check for it I lost it. You can’t order just this tiny little replacement ring. They want you to purchase the whole new top for 20 some dollars! How ridiculous!! When I called customer support the rep kindly told me there was nothing they could do, my only option is to buy the whole replacement top! I really can’t justify that. Obviously I’m not the only one who has had this problem! Total racket.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not enough suction My baby is 10 months old, and I was hoping to use this pump while on a trip. I tried it once and it only pulled a few drops out. I ended up hand expressing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Defective Productive I bought this pump a few months ago after I returned to work. It worked well for a few weeks until I suddenly lost suction. Instead of pumping 5 oz I would only manage to get 1 oz. It turns out Medela is aware of the o ring defect and doesn't supply extras. I tried to replace the o ring with o rings from the hardware store, none fit. This is a waste of money, buy something else that is built to last. I know I am.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Total waste If I could give it 0 stars I would. I bought this hoping to have a more portable pump option than my electric pump provides. Pumping with it got me just drops & it felt so cheap like it would fall apart. Disappointed to have wasted money on this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Works great, until the o ring fails Up until now, I would have given this product a five star review. This is the most comfortable pump I’ve used and I am able to collect the most breast milk with this product, BUT I lost suction in all THREE of my Harmonys within a month, because the o ring on the handle snapped. With a quick google search, I found so many complaints about this exact problem and I am so angry to learn that I have to purchase an entire diaphragm puller replacement part to fix this issue. 21$ X3 when ALL I need is the 3 tiny rubber o rings. I cannot afford to replace these! I may as well just buy a whole new pump! Needless to say, I am so disappointed. All three of my pumps are useless and o rings from the hardware store do not work. This issue should be addressed by Medela immediately because they’ve lost my business over this. These products are medically necessary for women and as common as this issue is, there needs to be a practical replacement part and a new manufacturer of these rings.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed I bought the Medela harmony a month ago in preparation for returning back to work. I loved this pump! I was easy to use and less restricting that being plugged into a wall with an electric pump. However, I am incredibly disappointed. After a few uses, the suction stopped working. I was at work when this happened and I needed to pump. I live an hour away from my work so I could not go home and get my electric pump. I had no other option but to run to the store and purchase another one. I was frustrated but assumed this was a fluke. Well it happened again! This time only after 1 use! I realize it is the white o ring on the handle that broke off both times. I am frustrated because I used the product correctly, did not wash the handle, and now have spent 100 on breast pumps in 1 month! As a new mama, this is definitely not what I wanted to be worrying about. I called customer service, and knowing that Medela is a big company, assumed that they would refund me the cost of the 2 broke products. They did not. Instead they sent me 2 o rings and some bottles. While it was nice that they were trying to compensate, ultimately, this is an unreliable and cheap product. I would have expected Medela to stand behind their product more. Instead it seems as though they simply recognize that the o rings always fall off and just keep sending them out to people. Anyone who pumps knows that when you need to pump, You NEED to pump. It seems as though Medela is doing nothing to improve their product or keep their customers. Why would I purchase another pump at this point? Incredibly unreliable, and reliability is exactly what you need as a working mama.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not buy!!! This is the first time I’ve ever wrote a bad review on a product. That’s how upset I am with this product and the lack of a warranty. I wanted to make sure moms or mothers to be do not buy it until the product is redesigned. This is my second time breastfeeding, a friend recommend this pump to me so I was excited to use it. After maybe 2 months of using it a handful of times while on a vacation to the DR (when I needed it the most) It stopped working. I couldn’t buy one in the country we were in. So I painfully had to push the milk out manually into the pump. I called customer service when I returned and the lady knew right away the issue. She pointed out a ring that was missing and informed me that is happens all the time. Also, the warranty was a month which is useless. I was over that time and I’d have to buy another handle. That’s almost the same as buying a whole new pump. The instructions do not mention anything about a tiny O ring that will fall out and get lost. My friend then gave me hers & the same thing happened after a short period of time. Again on a trip while pumping the the car. There’s no way as a busy mother you can keep track of something so tiny nor should you. Breastfeeding is hard enough. What bothers me the most and the reason for this review is that I’ve bought 2 electric expensive Medela pumps and countless other products and as a company they know this is an issue and haven’t changed the defective product. Or give a few extra O rings that probably cost less than 5 cents to help us out. I’m buying another brand today.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Broke after 3 weeks So apparently a lot of people have this same problem with the o-ring. I’m a student-parent and am limited to pumping in the university library while I’m away from my baby. So I needed something reliable and portable. Without reading reviews ahead of time I decided to purchase the Harmony pump. For the three weeks that I was using it got the job done, and I was able to make a small supply while I was away from home. I followed all care instructions for cleaning and storing when I came home for the day. But, alas, the pump only lasted less than a month before the diaphragm and o-ring rendered this product utterly useless. And there is not option to replace the item at an affordable price either. You have to buy the whole handle!
