Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Breast Pump Ever My baby boy Tyler was born premature at 30 weeks. I received my pump before giving both through my insurance. He was only 2 pounds 7 ounces he was in the NICU for only 1 month and now at home happy and health. I started pumping as soon as could after having a c-section. Before I have attached a picture Of the milk we had to take home no enhancements to help my pumping just straight pump ever 3 hours

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love the 2 modes (expression and let down) I am so glad I received this pump. The pump I was using from a different brand only had one setting. This Medela pump has two and it makes pumping SO much more efficient. This machine is compact, it's relatively quiet, and it works great. I really enjoy the speed/power setting knob that lets you adjust the power to your needs. I am the most impressed with the 2 stage setting. I was able to pump more quickly and get the same if not more than I would with the pump brand I had been using. I would 100% recommend this product, and I actually have to one of my pregnant friends. The bottles and the shield all put together is not heavy, so it makes it easy to hold. If you are searching for a great breast pump, I don't think you could go wrong with this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pump and amazing customer service I got this pump supplied by my insurance in the hospital, and I exclusively pump for my son. I have tried many other pumps, ones highly recommended, but my body responds the best to this one. I have made it almost a year exclusively pumping with my pump in style advance. I had an issue where my pump was losing suction, and made a clicking noise, and when I called customer service they had a new pump shipped for me and arrived the next day. They paid shipping to ship the other one back as well. No questions asked, they are hands-down the best to work with. I highly recommend this pump.

I bought a medela pump many years ago and I just took it out of storage for my new baby but it's not suctioning well, what so you recommended I do?

Asked by: Yola1026
We're sorry to hear that you're having trouble with it. We would suggest ensuring that you've placed the white membranes on the yellow valves when reassembling the parts. The suction will not work without the white membranes laying flat on the yellow valves. If you find that the parts are assembled properly and it hasn't resolved this, please reach out to us through live chat on our website so that we can help! Your reference number is 254859.

Hi - when using the batteries instead of the wall adapter, how many uses can you expect to get before needing to replace the batteries? Thanks!

Asked by: Christina M
Hi Christina--- Our 8-Count Battery Pack will provide approximately 2 hours of pumping time. For best results, we recommend using rechargeable AA batteries. Have a great day!

Does this pump require an outlet to plug it in?

Hi Lindsey P--- Our Pump in Style Advanced can be used with the wall outlet or with our 8-count Battery pack. The 8-count battery pack is separate from the breast pump unit and requires 8AA batteries. It's a great option for more portable pumping! I have the advanced personal double pump and received a breastpump bag at my baby shower. It doesn’t fit in the bag with the pump still in the black/Velcro “bag” it came in. It is safe to place and use the pump without the black/Velcro “bag“ it came in?

Asked by: britt0528
We don't recommend removing the breast pump motor from the black case that it originally came in since that will expose the motor. If you have any further questions, please consider live chatting with us on our website. We'd be happy to help!

My wife is having a issue with the punp and not getting a good amount of milk while pumping., any suggestions??

Asked by: Skie
Hi Skie--- We're sorry to hear that. Below are a few scenarios to consider. 1. If she is finding that the breast pump produces a strong suction, but she is unable to express breast milk, we would suggest taking a closer look at the sizing of the breast shield. Our breast shield sizing guide can be found here: www.medelabreastshields.com. 2. If the suction strength of the breast pump is functioning well, she has properly fitted breast shields, and also notices low milk expression when breastfeeding, then we would suggest reaching out to a lactation consultant for further suggestions. 2. If she feels as though the suction strength is low and she is unable to express breast milk, then please reach out to our team so that we may further troubleshoot with you. When reaching out, please be sure to provide reference number 242435. We hope you find that information helpful. Have a great day!

What is the difference between this pump and the Pump in Style Advanced On-the-go Tote/backpack and Freestyle?

Asked by: Clamm813
The pumping mechanism of the Pump in Style Advanced Starter and Pump in Style Advanced On-the-go Tote and Backpack will be the same. The main differences will be in the bag and accessories included with each. Our Freestyle breast pump is a different pumping mechanism and design. The Freestyle has a digital display, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, memory settings, and can be used while mobile. The breast pump can be clipped onto your jean or belt loop. When used with our Easy Expression Bustier, it allows for mobile and hands-free pumping. Please consider reaching out to our team via live chat on our website if you have additional questions. How do you clean the pump itself? I have seen some post where there is mold under the faceplate... I have checked and there isn't any currently, but I would like to clean/disifect the membrane to prevent it.

Asked by: MNoel85
We recommend cleaning the diaphragm with a clean damp cloth, without soap. Allowing the diaphragm to completely dry before placing the faceplate back on should help prevent any mold from forming. You'll want to ensure that it remains free of moisture. If you have any further questions, please reach out to our team via live chat on our website. We'd be happy to help!

We would like to supply the batteries at our workplace for moms to use with thier own attachments. An employee raised concerns saying your particular model is not for sharing as breast milk can get back into the pump. can you confirm or deny this?

Asked by: Melanie Rocha
Hi Melanie--- Our Pump in Style Advanced is a personal-use breast pump that should not be shared among moms. Although it does have Overflow Protection at the pump to block breast milk from entering the motor, it is not designed as a multi-user breast pump. Our Symphony Hospital-grade Breast Pump would be an excellent option since multiple moms can use it as long as they have their own attachments. Please consider reaching out to us via live chat on our website if you have any other questions. Have a great day!

Is this pump supposed to suction to your breasts? I had no suction when I used it last and had to hold both sides during the whole session so they didn't fall off. If it is supposed to, any tips for getting better suction?

Asked by: dani87
The breast pump parts will need to be held at the breast for best results. The breast pump is not intended to create a suction strength that will keep them in place by themselves. If you feel that the suction strength is not at a normal level, please consider reaching out to our team directly via live chat on our website. We'd be happy to help!

In the cover of the black case it says that the motor must be upright when pumping. Does that mean that the on/off knob, letdown button, and the tubing should be facing upward or sideways (like in the picture)?

Asked by: Riki
Hi Riki--- The on/off knob, letdown button, and the tubing should be facing sideways like in the picture. If you are standing in front of the pump, the buttons/knobs should be facing in toward you and not up to the ceiling. Hope that helps! Please feel free to chat with us on our website if you have any other questions.

Is this system open or closed?

Asked by: Ktravis
In the market, the term "closed" refers to a membrane that blocks milk from entering the tubing or motor. Medela calls this membrane Overflow Protection, and it is part of every Medela double breast pump, both personal-use and hospital-grade (multi-user) breast pumps. Medela breast pumps are therefore, by market definition, considered to be closed systems. Some Medela breast pumps have this barrier located at the kit, or breast shield connector, while others have this barrier at the pump motor. Our Pump in Style Advanced has this Overflow Protection at the pump. Please feel free to chat with us on our website if you have any additional questions. Our team is always happy to help!

- "Dual power options". Does this mean it can be used elsewhere(For example India?). One of my friend said that her adapter plug burst when she used a converter. Is there any option for us to use this pump both in India and US with plug instead of battery

Asked by: yyyy
Our Pump in Style Advanced is currently able to be used with the 8-count Battery Pack or 9V Portable Vehicle Adapter when travelling outside of the U.S. It is not a dual-voltage adapter that should be used outside of the U.S. or with a power converter since it could potentially damage the breast pump or power adapter.
