The focus of this one-hour course is to provide health care professionals who work with breastfeeding families an overview of evidence based breastfeeding management strategies. Included topics are research-based updates regarding the uniqueness of human milk, an overview of lactation physiology, the first hour post birth, normal infant sucking and feeding patterns and current clinical practice guidelines for normal breastfeeding management. A discuss of maternal confidence regarding breastfeeding success is also included.
