Medela is proud to award our newest Certified Nursing Center as part of our new Partner Program. The Partner Program recognizes accounts who continued to grow their business with the support of the Medela brand.
What is a Certified Nursing Center? A Certified Nursing Center is not just about nursing. These stores offer a full product assortment that allows moms a “one stop shop” for all of her breastfeeding, nursing, feeding, and educational needs. Certified Nursing Centers offer a dedicated staff with superior customer service, Certified Product Specialists and Bra Fitters, Breastfeeding Specialist referrals from their store or Breastfeeding Specialists on staff, educational materials and classes, and so much more.
Tacoma General Hospital has used Medela breast pumps exclusively for over 15 years in both the inpatient unit and our breast pump rental depot. Our IBCLC’s firmly believe Medela’s breast pumps and products are the best! When The Mom & Baby Boutique was established in 2001, we were able to expand to a full line of Medela products. Our staff consists of certified bra fitters with a full knowledge of all Medela products. We have the largest breast pump rental depot in the South Sound. Our mission is to accept and honor the trust with which patients and their families place in us.
About Us:
The Mom & Baby Boutique at Tacoma General Hospital is more than just a retail store. The Boutique provides new and expectant parents with pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting products in a comfortable, convenient location.
Tacoma General Hospital has the region’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for newborns, providing the highest level of care possible for these critically ill infants. The NICU serves more than 1,500 premature and critically ill newborns and is the leading Neonatal Referral Center for all of southwest Washington.
Tacoma General Hospital was voted Best Hospital and Best Place To Have A Baby in The Best of the South Sound in South Sound Magazine for the year of 2009.
In 2004, Tacoma General was recognized as a Baby-Friendly Birth Facility as defined by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children’s Fund.
After delivery:
Our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC’s) and specially trained Women and Newborn Services staff are there to help with the first latch and throughout your breastfeeding life. In conjunction with our Women and Newborn Center staff, the Mom & Baby Boutique offers a wide range of services to include:
- A breastfeeding “hotline” – IBCLC will answer your questions
- Lactation outpatient appointments – make an appointment with one of our IBCLC’s for breastfeeding difficulties
- Weekly Mommy and Me support group after discharge as well as support group for inpatient babies in the NICU/ICN
- Breast pump and BabyWeigh scale rentals (Largest breast pump rental depot in the South Sound)
- Certified nursing bra fitters
- Full selection of Medela products including breast pumps, bras, supplies and more
- Wide selection of specialty items
