Medela is proud to award our newest Certified Nursing Center as part of our new Partner Program.   The Partner Program recognizes accounts who continued to grow their business with the support of the Medela brand.  What is a Certified Nursing Center?   A Certified Nursing Center is not just about nursing.  These stores offer a full product assortment that allows moms a “one stop shop” for all of her breastfeeding, nursing, feeding, and educational needs.  These stores offer a dedicated staff with superior customer service, Certified Product Specialists and Bra Fitters, Breastfeeding Specialist referrals from their store or Breastfeeding Specialists on staff, educational materials and classes, and so much more.



WELL/ A Mother’s Place @ Yale-New Haven Hospital is the only one-stop shopping service in Connecticut that combines prenatal breastfeeding education, a store that offers a complete line of breastfeeding products, including pump rentals, pump sales, personalized nursing bra fittings, and breastfeeding supplies in one location. We offer service free of charge to our customers who purchase pumps from us and offer pump instruction to parents who have purchased their pumps elsewhere on a fee for service basis.
In addition, we offer a personalized cart service to the postpartum units 5 days/ week so that our breastfeeding moms can access our services by simply calling us during their hospital stay. Our goal is to prepare families for the childbirth experience, as well as for their role as a parent, grandparent, brother or sister and support the mother in her breastfeeding experience.
We continue to support our breastfeeding mothers by offering a free Breastfeeding Mothers support group on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 300 George Street. History of WELL/ A Mother’s Place:
Yale-New Haven Hospital has had a breast pump rental program since 1993. Sharon Joslin, RN, IBCLC and the late Barbara Ackerman, RN, IBCLC, began the program to meet the needs of breastfeeding mothers who were struggling to initiate lactation both in the New Born Special Care Unit and on the postpartum floors. Joslin and Ackerman ran the program until 2000, when WELL/ A Mother’s Place, the childbirth and parenting education program, took on the responsibility of breast pump rentals. We added nursing bras, pump parts, and pumps to our stock and currently offer the best selection of nursing bras, Medela pumps and nursing supplies in Connecticut! Our staff are all certified bra fitters and we are here to serve our expectant and nursing mothers. WELL/ A Mother’s Place is currently located on the first floor at 300 George Street, New Haven in Room 138. We are open Monday thruough Friday from 9 AM – 4 PM and Saturdays from 9 AM – 1 PM. Our breastfeeding cart goes to the postpartum unit Monday – Friday afternoons.
