What is a Certified Nursing Center?  A Certified Nursing Center is not just about nursing. These stores offer a full product assortment that allow moms a “one stop shop” for all of her breastfeeding, nursing, feeding, and educational needs. Certified Nursing Centers offer a dedicated staff with superior customer service, Certified Product Specialists and Bra Fitters, Breastfeeding Specialist referrals from their store or Breastfeeding Specialists on staff, educational materials and classes, and so much more.

The Lactation Center at Carolinas Medical Center – Union, located in Monroe, North Carolina is located on our main campus in the Outpatient Treatment Pavilion.

The Lactation Center works in conjunction with The Women & Children’s Center to offer both inpatient and outpatient services. The services offered include lactation consultations, breast pump rentals and sales, and a variety of retail products to assist them in breastfeeding. We have 4 certified bra fitters who are available to provide information on various types of bras and also to give the moms individualized and personal care as they assist the moms with choosing the correct bra when they come to our center. We also have sleep bras that many of our surgical patients have purchased to wear after they have had surgery because of the comfort they provide.   We offer “free” weight checks for the babies in our Lactation Center as well as a “free” postpartum consultation to further assist them with their breastfeeding.  The Lactation Center is staffed with dedicated Lactation Consultants who are IBCLC certified.

We are open Monday through Friday from 9:00am until 5:00pm for the convenience of our moms and the community. Aside from the services we offer, we also offer a “free” prenatal breastfeeding class, “Breastfeeding Basics,” and also a “free” postpartum class, “Busy Lifestyles and Breastfeeding on the Go.”
