Re: Freestyle membranes--what am I looking for?

Yes, check the membranes for any holes, cracks, etc. You can also buy a spare parts set that replaces the whole assembly on the freestyle (available at Target and other places). I have also occasionally gotten it assembled incorrectly, so make sure there is not a fold or that the outer ''shell''is attached properly...makes a different sound. My ...

Re: Need to know....please help!

Be sure to eat lots of protein and get lots of fluids as well. Try to not stress because that can decrease your supply even more. Also, be sure to get as much rest as possible (I know that is easier said than done with a baby!). :-) There are some herbs you can take (but get approval from the pediatrician first) - Fenugreek and Blessed Thistle. ...

Re: Can I sterilise all the parts of freestyle?

I put all my parts in the steam bags. However, if you are using the soft shields, they can warp in the microwave, so wash them well with soap and water and boil occasionally. That is what the medical supply told me. DO NOT EVER put tubing in water (even though it says to) the water can get into it and cause condensation and moisture problems. I ...

Re: defrosting help fast

I use mine within 36 hours of taking it out of the freezer into the fridge. It take about 6-8 hours to become icy milk in my fridge...

Re: Traveling with fresh breast milk

Well, your travel time has obviously long since passed, but... I have found that if I keep two of the blue ice pouches in a small cooler/Medela cooler, they seem to do the best job of keeping the milk cold. I am disappointed in the hard plastic Medela blue ice too. It doesn't stay cold very long and doesn't do a very good job of cooling my milk I ...

Re: forceful let down problems

Had the same problem as one of my breasts made more milk and was fuller and ''gushed'' out. I hand expressed enough to where it wasn't just ''gushing'' out. Did not have a hand pump, otherwise would have used it (did not want to go to the trouble of getting my Freestyle out for 1/4 to 1/2 oz.. After my son got a little bigger, he could handle it ...

Re: No luck getting baby to take bottle

We went through this with my son. He took a bottle fine at first - even from me! Then, NO WAY! He would not take it from anyone. Finally, after he screamed for about 30 minutes, my husband was able to get him to drink a bottle. He went through that horror every time for about 2 weeks - then he decided it was ok (whether I was at home or not, but ...

Re: clogged up breast

Yes, have you tried massaging your breast in a warm shower? That is about the only way I know of other than the compresses. If you have been knotted up that long though, you should call you dr. You MIGHT (and I mean MIGHT) have mastitis. Is it hot and painful? I have better luck with my son nursing to unclog my ducts than with pumping. You might ...

Re: Problems emptying breasts

I had been having that problem and changed breast shields...made a huge difference. Not sure why, but think the ducts were getting fuller near the nipple and that would not allow the rest of the milk to release. Still knot some, but not like before. Other thing is to try a hot washcloth to help in the let down. I also notice that I have 2 let ...

Re: How to store parts between feedings? In bag?

I have a mesh lingerie drawstring bag that I use to keep parts in. Do use a ziploc for sterile bottles and parts when I first load my bag for the day.
