Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used for a year I used the Freestyle pump for a whole year exclusively. I would use it anywhere from four to nine times a day. I took it in the car as well, wherever I had to go. I wasn’t able to breastfeed my son the “traditional” way because I was in so much pain and kept losing my supply, so I resorted to exclusively pump. Thanks to the Freestyle pump, I was able to move around freely with the pump on. The only down side is I couldn’t bend over with it on or else I started leaking everywhere. But overall I am very satisfied with this product and would recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pumped 15 months without an issue With my first child, I paid an optional upgrade to get the Freestyle and was VERY happy with it. I loved that it was compact and had a built in battery. I pumped in my car 2 x a day and at my desk 2 x a day and I never needed to go past level 6/9 for suction. I really liked the belt clip while on maternity leave and in my office because I could get up and do things as I pumped. That helped distract me and helped me get a better let down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great portability I bought this pump prior to my baby being born and have been using it for six weeks so far. I bought this pump also because my friend used this pump for 12 months to pump for her baby. She had an oversupply so pumped often and didn't have anything negative to say about the function of the pump. I love how portable it is and how discreet it is. I can fit it in a big purse. Plus the parts are easy to clean in the go. Oh and when you purchase replacement parts, all you purchase is one kit and the tubing. The reviewers who say if you bend down and it leaks, well it will if you tip way forward cause there has to be a space for air to come in for the function of the suction. To the reviews that day suction kinda sucks, well you do have to have the parts dry to work, assembled correctly and the parts clicked together. I work in healthcare and help assemble the parts together for the Symphony for moms and guess what, you have to make sure the parts for that are tight as well! My one complaint is that I wish the battery lasted longer on full charge (cause that is where I get the most/best suction), but I just plug it in between uses and try to have it fully charged prior to leaving the house with it. Also there are tons of hands free pumping bras out there, buy one or two different types to find what you like. I did use the coupon provided in the kit to get the free medela one. All in all, I would purchase this pump again and recommended it to my friends. Oh and purchase their new flanges cause they are so much more comfortable than the hard plastic standard ones!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! Nice extras. Recommend This pump has worked great for me. I found this item in the clearance department of my Wal-Mart for $90 and couldn’t resist. I was doing a lot of traveling with my Medela PISA and liked it for home use but found it to be a little bit bulky on the road. The Medela Freestyle set comes with everything you need including multiple flange sizes, a cooler, storage bottles, a carry bag, and the unit itself. It even came with a free voucher for a pumping bra! Overall, I found it to be a quality product that performed well and was convenient at home, but especially for traveling. The bag is plenty big to use as an extra diaper bag as well. The parts are fairly easy to clean and maintain and it seems like any replacements you need are fairly easy to come by. The suction didn’t seem to be quite as effective as the PISA, but I didn’t really expect it to be. If you haven’t had a supply issue, this pump is probably fine. You must make sure it is assembled correctly and logged up right to ensure a proper seal and effective suction. Also if you use it whole working around the house, be aware that if you lean over too far milk will spill out of the bottles. I have recommended this product to several friends looking for something more convenient. Full price would have been difficult for me to swing but if insurance pays part or it’s on sale, it’s definitely worth trying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pump for working moms! I purchased this through another website so that my insurance could cover part of the cost, and I have loved my pump ever since! After I purchased it, I read some bad reviews and was super nervous. I have never had one problem! The pumping levels are great, and I can pump 10 ozs in about 10 minutes. This helped me build my milk stash before return in to work, and it’s helped keep my milk supply up while I’m still on maternity leave. The tote bag makes it super easy to travel with & is very discreet (just looks like a regular bag!). The parts are very easy to disassemble, clean, and reassemble. LOVE my pump and will recommend to everyone who plans on breastfeeding and working.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! This pump is simple to use and EASY to travel with. I originally borrowed it from a friend for our trip to Hawaii and FELL IN LOVE. I went ahead and made the purchase for myself, zero regrets! Thanks for a great product

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy and efficient I won this pump in a giveaway contest, and I’m so happy I was able to get such a wonderful pump. I’m a new mom, and I had no idea about the world of babies. This particular model allows me to pump with ease, and I’m able to do other things while it pumps. It’s not difficult to assemble, and works great! Definitely recommend this to anyone who is going back to work, or simply wants to have a hefty supply for emergencies, date nights, weaning, and so forth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy for always busy moms I originally bought this to use at work, but after one use, I decided I needed it for both home and work. It’s crazy to think that I can do house hold chores while pumping instead of being tied down to a wall. This was a game changer for me and my sanity.

Can this be plugged into the wall while pumping, or is it only for mobile pumping? Previously had a Pump in Style which I was very happy with. Am purchasing a new pump for my 3rd child and trying to decide -Pump in Style again or go with Freestyle Pump?

Asked by: CatM
Yes it can. You can plug it in to charge while pumping or you can do mobile pumping. It is a good choice.

Hi. I just want to ask if the manufacturing date of medela freestyle matters it terms of performance? Someone is selling a 2014 manufacturing date to me and says that i was used only for three months. I am bothered if I should buy it or buy a brandnew.

Asked by: rish
Hi Rish--- When a breast pump is purchased new, the date of manufacturing should not impact performance. However, our Freestyle Breast Pump is a single-user product that should not be shared among moms once used. We would recommend purchasing a new breast pump to ensure that you are the first and only user. If you're interested in a breast pump that can be shared, then our Symphony Breast Pump may be one to consider. It is specifically designed as a hospital-grade, multi-user breast pump.
