My baby was born with a cleft lip (not palate) and this bottle has been a lifesaver for us. It is the only bottle he can easily get milk from and when he tries to over eat and doesnt swallow at the pace he is taking in milk, we can control the amount of milk he gets. I was reluctant to try the bottle because I didnt think it would help, I wish I would have started it from the beginning. Thank you for this bottle!!!!

My son was diagnosed with faliure to thirve and the cause was beause he was unable and unsafe to use a regular bottle. He bites instead of sucking and does not have the suck/swallow/breath coordination. This means he was expending more energy to suck than he was getting in calories and that he could easily choke with a bottle that drips. The specialneeds feeder allowed him to safely eat without spending as much energy. It took him an hour and sometimes longer to eat 3 ounces before and he is now able to do it in 10-15 minutes! This bottle literally saved my baby boy's life!!!!!

My son refused to latch at birth. He lost too much weight and had jaundice so the doctors had me give him 1 oz formula with the colostrum I pumped. I was terrified of nipple confusion on top of everything else!! We finger/syringe fed for the first week then used this bottle to supplement formula/milk when mine came in (until we discovered the wonderful Nipple Shields!!). I love the 3 flow rates in one bottle. We could make it harder to build his muscles, and make it easier when he got frustrated. It ended up being almost the only nipple he would take. We have now been nursing for 16 months and counting due to this and other Medela products!
