Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great first pump! The pump is great. Initially it was a bit too powerful but after a few uses I got used to it. The only downside of it is that it is loud.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great starter pump! Proud mom of two! I’m using this pump with my second and I love it. I had a similar pump with my first but it was very bulky. This one is compact and does a great job while double pumping at work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing and easy to use I love how easy this pump is to use and how easily accessible replacement/extra peices are to find. I have absolutely no complaints. Having this pump prior to the birth of my little one was so helpful, I was able to pump and bring in my supply quicker since my little guy was having trouble latching. I love all the Medel’s products including the steam bags and hands free pumping bra.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A few irks, overall does what it needs to I received this pump from my insurance after having my second child. With my first child, I received the Pump in Style Advanced. From what I can tell, they are basically the same. The initial suction on my PISA with my first baby was so strong I ended up renting a Symphony from my hospital. The initial suction on the APDB is better/less severe and I have been able to use it for the last 5 months. I exclusively pump and question the longevity of this pump, however. I’m starting to feel like it is not adequately emptying my breasts and it takes FOREVER for me to pump (35-40min) so I am considering renting a Symphony again just to test it’s effectiveness over the PISA/APDB. Overall, this pump does basically what you need and am pretty happy with it (especially since it’s free with insurance) with a few exceptions: 1. If I plug one of the suction/tubing connectors with the provided cap, it significantly reduces the suction. In order to get the suction I get while double pumping, I put my finger over the end of the tubing that had been attached to my other breast. 2. This machine is LOUD! Working on the noise level of this machine would be SO helpful. 3. Being able to fine-tune the let-down mode would be really helpful. 4. The newer models of the collection kits with the tubing attachment at the top of connector instead of out the back of the connector is SUPER annoying. It sticks WAY up and makes trying to cover yourself even more difficult. Thankfully I have the older model from my first baby so have not had to use the new ones more than once.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Really?? Not great... I'm really surprised madela makes such an awkward product. Yes it's small and easy to pack (except for the pump parts), it can do either single or double, has the let-down function and various suction strengths, and works with the Kiinde storage/bottle system, but there are so many negatives, too. It's loud and makes strange sounds at annoying pitches. It's painful to use at anything above the lowest setting (which causes milk duct damage). It doesn't work well. It makes like a popping sound when it releases the suction every second and pushes my nipple back. It's even worse when using the double pump feature.. It doesn't have anywhere to store pump parts for traveling. I hate it actually. I appreciate that insurance bought it for me, but since it's so bad I bought a better one (not madela) online.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not working well from day one. I received this pump coming home from the hospital last week. To start I struggled with it because the air hose nozzles will not stay on and I have to hold them in place while pumping (super hard to do while also trying to lean on something to pump). Then today, 6 days later, it started making a weird mechanical whistling noise. I’m so fed up! I was excited to get this upgraded version, I’ve had two double pumps prior, but I’m not impressed and worried that this will not make it through my pumping.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from weird noise after 1 week. Cost 528 through lincare I bought his a week ago. Well my insurance covered it (so I thought) they failed to tell me this pump is $528.00?!?!?!? Uhhh why? It’s already started making a grinding noise and I haven’t gotten an email back from Medela about a warranty. My baby is in the nicu and I’m extremely afraid that my pump will stop working and I won’t have one to use. The suction was great at first but it’s already starting to loose suction??? IM honestly not impressed. What makes this one more special than ones that come with backpacks or bags? Which is what I’d prefer.

What is the difference between the PISA and the Advanced Personal Double? I had the PISA with my first and just received the APDB from insurance. I would like to use the bottles and parts I have from my PISA.

Asked by: 2nd time Mom
The internal components of the Pump in Style Advanced and Advanced Personal Double Breast Pump are the same. The difference lies in the bag and accessories that are included with each. You can use the same bottle and parts from your Pump in Style Advanced with your Advanced Personal Double Breast Pump. Is this a portable pump?  Do i need to be plugged into the wall or can i take it on the go?

Asked by: Taryn831
It can be made more portable by using the 8-count Battery Pack to power it when on the go. The battery pack accessory uses a total of 8AA batteries and allows you to use the breast pump without being connected to the wall outlet.

I bought the pump in style breast pump. I left my 9v wall charger at work and i used all the batteries from my portable charger. I have a 12 wall charger lying around my house. My question is, can i use a 12v wall charger on my 9v pump?

Asked by: Tiffany
Hi Tiffany--- No. The 9V breast pumps should only be used with the appropriate 9V adapter designed for that specific model. Using them with the incorrect wall adapter could potentially damage your breast pump. Please feel free to also chat with us on our website if you have any other questions. We're here to help!

Is this breast pump compatible with Dr. Browns bottles?

Asked by: Naomi042
We have only tested it using Medela breast milk bottles. We are unable to recommend that non-Medela bottles be used with it since they have not been tested. Please feel free to chat with us on our website if you have any further questions. Have a great day!
