ABC Kids Expo, Las Vegas, September 10, 2008 — Responding to recent demand for more feeding choices, Medela has expanded its line of breastfeeding solutions to include two new Glass Breastmilk Bottle Sets. The glass bottles are designed to attach to most Medela breastpump options, including the Symphony®, Pump In Style® Advanced and Swing™ breastpumps, allowing moms to pump directly into the bottles. Moms also can use the bottles for breastmilk storage and feeding. Medela glass bottles will be available in 4-ounce and 8-ounce sets.

Like all Medela products that come into contact with breastmilk, the Glass Breastmilk Bottle Sets are Bisphenol A-free. Bisphenol-A (BPA) is a controversial industrial chemical used in the production of polycarbonate plastics. Medela’s glass bottles are made of safe and durable glass designed to retain breastmilk’s beneficial properties.
“For moms who work outside the home or simply want to run errands or spend a night away from the baby, pumping is vital to ensure that their babies continue to receive the health benefits of breastmilk,” said Brian Warren, New Business Development Manager at Medela.

“Many breastfeeding moms are looking for BPA-free options to feed pumped milk to their babies. We believe our new Glass Breastmilk Bottle Sets, in addition to our polypropylene plastic bottles which have always been BPA-free, give moms choices — sizes, designs and safe materials that work for them.”

Medela’s 8-ounce glass bottle set includes two 8-ounce glass bottles, two medium-flow silicone nipples, two two-piece lids, two nipple caps and one Micro-Steam™ Bag. The glass 4-ounce set includes two 4-ounce glass bottles, two slow-flow silicone nipples, two two-piece lids, two nipple caps and one Micro-Steam Bag. Together, these items give moms everything they need to easily collect, store and feed breastmilk to their babies. Medela glass bottles are dishwasher-safe, microwave safe and recyclable.

The 8-ounce Glass Breastmilk Bottle Set will be available at mass and independent retailers beginning in September. The 4-ounce Glass Breastmilk Bottle Set will be available at retailers beginning in November. Both sets have a suggested retail price of $16.99.
