February 25, 2013 – McHenry, Ill. – Medela, a company dedicated to women and infant health, has been acknowledged for both the quality of its products and its communications endeavors to support breastfeeding moms. American Baby magazine named Medela’s line of breastpumps among the best baby products for 2012; BabyCenter.com named the Pump In Style® Advanced and Freestyle® two of the best breastpumps in 2012; and Strategic Healthcare Communications awarded Medela with an eHealthcare Leadership Award for its blog, Medela Moments.

“Medela is focused on providing tools and products that benefit mothers’ successful breastfeeding,” said Carolin Archibald, president of Medela, Inc.

American Baby Magazine, a sister publication of Parents Magazine, annually recognizes the best baby product brands based on a poll among readers, Facebook fans and Parents.com community users. The Medela breastpump line was recommended by 70 percent of respondents for being very efficient.[1] Medela’s Pump In Style Advanced has won previous awards and incorporates Medela’s 2-Phase Expression® technology to mimic natural breastfeeding patterns. Medela has multiple award-winning products to support breastfeeding mothers.

BabyCenter.com, a popular online resource for expectant parents and parents of infants and toddlers, launched its first annual Product Awards in 2012, based on its editors’ assessments and personal experiences, as well as parent reviews from their website. Both of Medela’s double electric breastpumps, the Pump In Style Advanced and the Freestyle, were named among the best pumps. The Pump In Style Advanced was noted for its speed and the quality of its suction. The Freestyle was chosen because of its convenience for moms on-the-go.

The eHealthcare Leadership Awards recognize the best websites and digital communications efforts of companies and organizations in the healthcare industry. For the 2012 awards, 115 healthcare industry experts familiar with Internet communications evaluated the candidates. The Medela Moments blog received a “silver” award in the “Best Social Networking” category. Medela Moments was created to support breastfeeding moms, address potential obstacles, provide tips and solutions from a lactation consultant and answer common customer-submitted questions.

As a Healthy People 2020 consortium member, Medela is committed to helping improve breastfeeding goals for the nation. Medela has won nearly two dozen awards for its innovative breastfeeding resources and tools based on the latest breastfeeding science and needs of moms.
