I have been pumping for about 3 weeks now.  The first week I didn't get much milk supply, but by the 2nd week I was pumping 1-3 ounces each time.  Now I am barely getting anything.  Is there anything I can do to increase milk supply?  My baby was never able to latch on so I am strictly pumping and supplementing, but would like to supplement less.

From a first time mom who has had NUMEROUS supply issues I am here to tell you that not everything works for everyone. I have had supply issues from one side especially and I have tried everything and I still have to supplement at times. I have tried the herbs fenugreek and blessed thisle and have found that they seems to work very well at increasing it a little but not to where I get more than normal. When I pump I normally get maybe 2 or 3 oz out of one side (the "helthy side") and 1 to 2 oz out of the other side (the one that has not worked very well from the beginning). Plenty of sleep, water, and no stress if helpful.........but not always available when you are a new mom.

Hope this is somewhat helpful and good luck. Just remeber whatever you can give your baby as far is breastmilk is best so just give what you can.

You may want to consult with a lactation counselor. I had a problem with too much milk and my baby not want to nurse long. It took a while, but once I learned a few tricks from my lactation advisor, it was easy. Also you may have to get the baby to nurse more. When babies dont suck on the breast directly, this can casue the milk supply to decrease. Hope this helps. Good Luck and God Bless!

if you gently squeeze your breasts while pumping you can get more milk. squeeze them as if you were hand expressing. also try a herbal supplement to increase your supply its called funu greek but you will need to take double the amount suggested. you can find it at your pharmacy. if that doesnt work talk to your dr about a prescription medication called metoclypromide the generic name for reglan
