I am a first-time mother with a healthy 5 month old daughter. I have been successfully breast feeding since day one. I gradually worked pumping milk into my daily routine. (The model I use is the Medela Pump In Style Advanced Back Pack.) It has served me very well until recently. The lack of milk I have been producing led me to believe that I was "drying up," but when I hand-express, there is still plenty of milk. It seems that all of the suction strength from the pump is gone. Even on the highest setting, the level of suction is dramatically lower than it has been to date. I have tried all the trouble shooting tips in the owner's manual, but nothing seems to be working: 1) All parts a firmly in place 2) Any trace of condensation in the tubing has been cleared away as per the instructions in the manual 3) The diaphragm cap was removed and the membrane was gently cleaned as per the instructions in the manual Any insight into how I can get my precious pump working at full capacity again would be much appreciated. My little girl has quite an appetite and I need to pump!!! Thank you!

my pump did this too i called the medela customer service line and found out the diaphram on the pump motor was cracked. U can find out this by popping off the face plate and inspecting the cream colored soft plastic circle for any tears its easy to see a tear by turning on the pump with the face plate still off. good luck i hope thats not the problem because its not fixable. i cryed when i heard the news. :(
