Hello - for when you serve your baby expressed milk, does anyone have any recommendations for when to switch from a level 1 type nipple to a level 2? Sometimes in the mornings when my breasts are really full, my baby sputters and gets sprayed and gets really frustrated at the breast. It's like drinking from a firehose. I recently started her in daycare full time and she's almost 4 months old. She seems to have no problem taking the level 1 nipples on her bottles. I'm wondering if I should switch to level 2 with the hopes of possibly improving our morning breast feedings as well. Maybe a level 2 during the day would help her learn to take the faster flow? It's funny because in the middle of the night, she just laps it up. I think in the mornings, she's really excited to be awake and the overflow of my breast just bugs her.

My own experience only - My last child I gave breastmilk to exclusively for 11 months after returning to work at 16 weeks.  I used the newborn nipples the entire time.  My reasoning was that in order to simulate what she was getting when nursing, it made more sense to me to stick with the slower flow.  It's different from formula, when you need to increase from 4 to 6 to 8 oz as they grow, whereas with breastmilk you can stay with 4-5 oz each feeding even as they age since your body is adjusting what they're getting.  I'd say there's no right answer, just what they get used to or seem most comfortable with.

What type of bottles and nipples? I use the xxxxx brand and the level 2 nipples are recommended after 1 month.

I think I switched to level 2 when my son was about 5 months old.
