Introducing Calma: Designed exclusively for breastmilk feeding.

Switching from bottle back to breast has never been easier. Calma was developed using evidence-based research on babies' natural feeding behavior so mothers and babies can enjoy their breastfeeding bond longer.

With Calma, the milk will only flow if the baby works and creates vacuum to remove the milk. This enables the feeding behavior learned at the breast to be used with Calma.

Medela hosted a virtual roundtable to discuss breastfeeding in the U.S. and provide an inside look at Calma. Watch now for important research and insights

Tips for breastmilk feeding with Calma

  • Vented nipple
  • Helps avoid gassiness as the bottle is vented through our unique air control system.
  • Mimics natural feeding behavior
  • Supports easy transition from bottle to breast. Research has shown that with Calma, your baby is able to maintain the learned feeding behavior that your baby exhibits when breastfeeding.
  • Flow control valve
  • Allows baby to control milk flow. Milk only flows when baby creates a vacuum.
  • Calma doesn't drip
  • You can turn Calma upside down and it still won't drip. Your baby needs to apply a certain level of vacuum in order to get milk out.
  • One size/shape nipple
  • For all stages of breastmilk feeding. The flow, shape and length of Calma are designed to suit your baby's needs as your baby grows.

  • Compatible with all Medela breastmilk bottles
  • Breastfeeding must be well established before introducing Calma
  • Made without BPA

It's the best bottle I've ever had and the best bottle I've ever used. It mimics breastfeeding so that baby has to suck using the same technique as he does when on the breast. I had to pump cuz I got blocked ducts and because the doctor wanted to see how much little man's eating. (He's a preemie and needs to eat aaaall he can). With the Calma bottle I could let my husband bottle feed him and then go back to breastfeeding WITHOUT ANY problem and without having to worry about nipple confusion. So yeah, it costs a bit, an certainly more than the 2 dollar bottle I can buy at the grocery store. But for me it's worth it when it means that I can switch from breast to bottle and back as easy as 1-2-3 and the extra money is worth the peace of mind it brings that I can supplement with breastmilk in a bottle AND still breastfeed. It takes away a lot of the stress of getting engorged breasts or blocked ducts. Just pump, feed and breastfeed til u've solved the problem. I would gladly recommend this bottle to anyone!

I am so happy with the Calma bottles/nipples! My 5 week old is on mostly pumped milk with some breastfeeding. He was majorly fussy after drinking from the Dr Brown's bottles and had terrible gas issues in general You should see him when we take the bottle away after a feeding. He doesn't get upset and cry, instead he's so peaceful & content. His gas problems seem to have been resolved quite a lot as well. Could not ask for more, except that I wish I had a few more!
