Swing™ Breastpump | Medela#!Reviews 3.1 out of 5 based on 7 votes.
I found this pump to be very convenient. I loved the portability; it was easy to pack for vacation and even to use in the car. I did experience milk backing up into the tubing, but found it easy to wash as explained in the instruction manual. The suction was stronger than on some others pumps, which I appreciated since my son also has a strong suck! My only caution is to believe the advertising: this pump is truly designed for occasional (maybe a few times a week?) pumping. I ended up using it much more often--sometimes multiple times per day--and did eventually wear the pump out. Still, it lasted about sixteen months being used much harder than it was meant to be. I felt it had done its duty. I woud recommend this pump for mommies who feed mostly at the breast but want a nice, efficient pump to use for the occasional bottle or to relieve some engorgment.

The pump design is not reliable to nurse babies as the milk is in contact with parts that are not removable, washable and sterilized. It is common that the milk goes into the hose and fungus grow as it is not easy to wash and dry. I found out through Internet that many users have the same problem. Other difficulty is that the valve membrane is not easy to wash as well. Do not waste your money.

I had this pump for my now five year old. He was born with a tongue tie and I never successfully got him to nurse. So I pumped. My insurance covered a rental for a couple months and I rented one for another couple (to have the double) but it was harder for me to do both. This pump was used A LOT. I bought another brand initially and it actually caused blisters on my breast. This pump is super quiet compared to others and easily portable. I am planning on buying another one for this baby due in May. We had a house fire last May and sadly, my pump was inside so we had to toss it. However, it is still worth the money to replace i!

I exclusively breastfeed my son for 20 months and owned this pump the entire time. Now I am preparing to use it for our second child. It is perfect for pumping 2-3 times a week. It is not a pump meant for a working mother who needs to pump several times a day, but for an occasional pumping it is perfect!

I'm an exclusive pumper. I wanted the Freestyle, but my insurance would only cover the cost of this pump. I have been pumping every 2 to 3 hours every day for two months now and have had no problems at all with it.
For the amount I pump, this pump is pretty amazing and works just fine for me! Sure it's not the Freestyle, but if you can't afford something more expensive, this pump is just fine.

Even after reading the first review I still went out and bought this pump for lack of more funds to afford the Freestyle. I also have the same exact problem with my pump. I was told by an LC that she had never heard of this. Even when I unplug the hose from the bottle it still doesn't always let the milk drain out so I sometime have to unscrew the top and pull the membrane down to let the milk out. I am not impressed by this pump and am very angry that I have paid this much for it and can't return it. I won't be trying to replace parts if it won't help in the end. Now I am stuck with a pump that is actually worse than using a manual pump!

We bought this pump thinking that it would be used for occasional use, but was of the quality to be used on a daily basis. What we weren't planning on was that our beautiful little girl was going to be a challenging eater that would only feed from the bottle. So this pump got thrown into full time use pretty much from the beginning. Within the first few uses the valve didn't release milk into the bottle causing the milk to backflow into the tube. We replaced the valve membrane and this did not fix the issue. We then purchased and replaced the valve body and membrane. This seemed to fix the problem for a short time. We contacted Medela and were told that if you are having issues with the valves you need to purchase and replace them. We said that even new ones didn't fix the problem and they said you just have to replace the valves and flaps weekly. We now unplug the hose from the bottle about every 15s to allow the milk to flow into the bottle. After three months of daily use this pump died completely. Medela promptly replaced it, but still let us down. This pump has not been reliable and has been a royal pain in the...
