MEDELA TEAMS UP WITH FOCUS FEATURES TO OFFER “BONDS” TO NEW MOMS
Celebrate the mom-baby bond in Focus’ new movie BABIES and win big!

McHenry, Ill.— April 27, 2010 — Breastpump leader Medela, Inc. announced a partnership with film company Focus Features to support the new movie BABIES and give moms the chance to win big prizes for their little ones.

The film, which Focus releases in theaters across the country Friday, May 7, for Mother’s Day weekend, follows the lives of four diverse children from their first breaths to their first steps and celebrates the parent and child bond that forms during the early stages of a baby’s life. Medela’s partnership with Focus and BABIES reflects Medela’s commitment to help mom and baby enjoy the bonding benefits of breastfeeding that will benefit baby well beyond the first phase of life.
 
BABIES is directed by award-winning filmmaker Thomas Balmès, from an original idea by producer Alain Chabat. The movie simultaneously follows four babies around the world – from birth to first steps. The children are, respectively, in order of on-screen introduction: Ponijao, who lives with her family near Opuwa, Namibia; Bayarjargal, who resides with his family in Mongolia, near Bayanchandmani; Mari, who lives with her family in Tokyo, Japan; and Hattie, who resides with her family in the United States, in San Francisco. Re-defining the nonfiction art form, BABIES joyfully captures on film the earliest stages of the journey of humanity that are at once unique and universal to us all.
