This daylong symposium presented by Dr. Meier provides the latest scientific evidence for the use of human milk with premature infants. A detailed description of the benefits of human milk in improving short and long term outcomes is provided. Dr. Meier’s presentation illustrates clinical strategies that assist to remove barrier mothers’ face when providing human milk to their infants. She discusses specific evidence-based practices that protect maternal milk volumes. Case studies are used to highlight specific examples of complex human milk management for vulnerable infants.
