Expectant Mothers

Question:

When an infant is connected to IV lines and other monitoring objects, can this affect the weight?

Answer:

Lift the cables or tubes away from the baby to prevent added weight allowing them to hang off the scales could cause the weight to vary which is unacceptable when trying to track small increments in weight changes. If using a sheepskin pad, we would suggest either folding the sheepskin or cutting it to size so that it does not hang over the tray. The weight can be zeroed out prior to weighing. As to the baby's movements - the scale is made to adjust for this, that is why the display will fluctuate. It will lock in the weight and beep to tell you when it has received an accurate reading.
