About Us
Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City is dedicated to helping each mother meet or exceed her breastfeeding goals. Our health care providers—obstetricians, perinatologists, neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, family practitioners, pediatricians and nurse midwives—encourage each family to breastfeed.  We have a staff of lactation consultants who teach breastfeeding classes, see each breastfeeding mother in the inpatient setting, offer outpatient consultations, and provide “Warm Line” telephone support.  Additionally, they have been involved in research which has been published in professional journals. Our breastfeeding inception rates surpass 90% both in the well baby and NICU units.  The next step in our journey is to establish a milk bank in 2010.  Our commitment to quality and women’s and children’s health is complemented by the retail and rental services in our Women’s Shoppe.  As Director of Healthcare Retail, I am a board certified lactation consultant and our manager is a certified breastfeeding educator.  Not only do we offer premier products, but professional support to our customers. We would be honored to be designated as a Medela Certified Nursing Center.
