The Milky Way carries a full line of Medela products so we always have a solution for most every breastfeeding need or hurdle a customer may need to overcome.  Not only do we carry the products but we work very hard with our Medela reps to understand everything about the products so we can best inform our customers and help them choose the right product for their specific need.  We also have the unique advantage of having a special relationship with Carolina's Medical Center, the third largest hospital network in the country.  It allows us to learn a lot about breastfeeding and baby care from OB Educators, lactation consultants and care providers, which informs our customer service.  When it comes to bras and breastfeeding products, we are known throughout the Carolinas as the place to come to get a good, perfect fitting bra in most every size.  We are Medela pump specialists which allows us to guide new and sometimes confused and overwhelmed customers, whether they need a Symphony Preemie pump, a Freestyle or the Harmony.  Being a CNC has lent us much credibility and allowed us to take one step closer toward fulfilling mission of being the very best breastfeeding store.

About Us
Eight years ago, we (Wooten & Adam Schmitz) struggled mightily to get the breastfeeding rolling with our first child, Zeke.  We were so inspired by the help that we received in Los Angeles where he was born that we decided to pack our bags for Charlotte, NC with the mission of providing moms a place to get all of the nursing products needed for successful breastfeeding.  Soon afterwards The Milky Way was born.  As our name implies, we specialize in servicing nursing mothers.  Our mission is to offer the very best breastfeeding products as well as to be a shoulder to lean on and a support system for moms like Wooten, who feels that without all the help and helpful products that she had access to we would not have succeeded at breastfeeding Zeke.
The Milky Way has a strong alliance with Carolinas Medical Center, the third largest public hospital system in the U.S., and we are their official breast pump rental station.  We offer all the best in breast feeding products, give knowledgeable and caring customer service, and now offer a free monthly class on breastfeeding.  The class is lead by nationally renowned Lactation Consultant Jan Ellen Brown who works out of Charlotte Pediatric Clinic, which is Charlotte’s largest pediatrician’s office.  She recently co-authored with Kathleen Huggins the book 25 Things Every Nursing Mother Needs to Know.  
Our relationship with Medela has frankly been a great one for us.  Medela is not only our number-one product line by far, but it has been the tent pole that has held up The Milky Way.  We exclusively carry Medela breast pumps and offer the full line of Medela breastfeeding and maternity/nursing bras. 
We are honored to be a Certified Nursing Center.  This is another step in fulfilling our mission of doing everything we can in the Charlotte area -- and far beyond with the magic of the World Wide Web -- to promote breastfeeding and help as many mothers as we can reach to have the best breastfeeding experience possible.
