About Us
Nursing Mothers are at the heart of Indigo Forest’s mission to nurture parents and their children.  We offer support in every way for breastfeeding mother & baby, from the complete Medela line of great products and rental pumps, to the original “Nursing Café,” our free breastfeeding support group.  Specializing in highly effective, natural remedies to help with thrush, mastitis, cracked nipples and other common challenges, we also maintain a calibrated baby scale on site for your use.  Practical breastfeeding and natural health classes are available in our warm, welcoming environment.  

We seek to empower breastfeeding mothers and their families, and are proud to have won the Gold Award for Breastfeeding-Friendly both Employers and Retailers from the Washtenaw County Breastfeeding Coalition in 2009, 2010, & 2011.

Having taught Childbirth Education and Breastfeeding Classes for over 20 years, Beth also wrote and taught an 8 hour/6 CEU's  breastfeeding class for Nurses.  She offers a free drop-in support group, "The Nursing Cafe," at Indigo Forest on Wednesday afternoons, as well as being available for in-store support and professional consultations.

Here at Indigo Forest we LOVE being a Certified Nursing Center!  Our mission has always included nurturing Mamas and babies in healthy ways, and now we've been able to help even more people who find us through Medela's website.  Moms have driven from over two hours away to take advantage of our combination all the products, replacement parts & extra tubing, and professional support in one location.   One of our now favorite customers found us the day before Thanksgiving when they came in with their three day old baby girl who wasn't nursing well, and was able to weigh their little one on our Medela Calibrated scale, relax and get some information on a good latch and on how to use her pump & finger-feeder, and then keep successfully breastfeeding through the holiday weekend and way beyond!

Medela's commitment to BREASTFEEDING has been very impressive - together we've been able to help many families in wide variety of ways - from quick repairs to even giving a free pump & bra to a homeless mom who needed it in order to keep breastfeeding her three month old daughter while fulfilling her back-to-work requirement!  Thank you Medela!
