About Us
Kelly Wysocki-Emery, RN, BS, IBCLC, began her interest in helping mothers’ breastfeed in 1994 as a certified lactation educator and postpartum doula. Over the next ten years she gained experience as well as a nursing degree. After working in a hospital setting as a lactation consultant she earned her IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) credential and subsequently ventured out to help create a place where mothers could come once they were discharged from the hospital. Baby Beloved, inc. was born December 1, 2004, and serves as a complete resource for “all things nursing.” The staff is trained to assist with proper bra fittings, breastpump demos, infant carriers and so much more.
Today, baby beloved, inc serves women preparing to breastfeed or currently breastfeeding, conducts breastfeeding support groups, hosts classes, and offers an extensive selection of breastfeeding supplies such as nursing bras, breastpumps, and nursing pillows.
A move to the Women’s Health Center in July ’08 expanded capacity and provides a central location for the greater Grand Rapids, MI area. Here a staff of 10 aspires to live out the mission to “support, honor and celebrate the ancient art of breastfeeding and its integration into the family system and the community”.
Testimonial
During this past year of having the Certified Nursing Center certification we have noticed an increase in business, particularly from referrals originating on the Medela website. My customers go to the Medela website, type in their zip code, and are immediately directed to my store. We carried almost all of the Medela products before we became certified, but specifically we have noticed increased sales in the Nursing Camisoles as we are carrying more of them and in more color selections than before. In addition, because our stock in the store (and on the floor) are kept more full, sales are better. A full shelf sells more inventory, without a doubt.
We have organized our Medela products into one central location so as to not only make it easier for the customer to find what they are looking for, but also to encourage selling additional complimentary products that the customer may not have even known existed. Because their attention is already driven to the wall of Medela products, it is effortless for the customer to experience and learn about the other offerings at the same time.
Because I, the lactation consultant, cannot be on the sales floor at all times, it is important that my staff are extremely knowledgeable in all areas of the products, specifically the breastfeeding products. They have been trained by me, and will continue to be trained by my Medela representative, on the specific usages and benefits of each product. My customers gain exceptional help and support when my staff are well-educated on the products they are recommending.
