Question - What activities would you do if you could pump hands-free?

Answer - Do it right!

Thinking of the season that lies ahead of us, I can almost smell the aroma of our holiday pie wafting through the house. But how will I make it I ask myself. Two active children running around the house and the new baby will have joined us by the holidays.

I became a mother early in life, at least much earlier then I had planned, and I found myself having to sacrifice on my breastfeeding dreams. With each of my first two children I had to return to school to continue my education within 3 weeks of their births. Not only for my future anymore, but for all of us.

Baby #1, spitting image of his father, was born premature weighing in at a mere 3lbs. 5oz. Doctors insisted that he be supplemented with a fortified formula. I did my best to breastfeed when I could and pump when I couldn't. But the only pump I had was the manual one that came home with us from the hospital. Needless to say my supply was less than ideal given the circumstances.

Baby #2 came along as healthy as could be, at least initially. Again quickly finding myself back at school full time, I had to supplement with formula. When my milk supply went from little to gone and she was exclusively on formula she began a long string of ear infections. I think to myself, could it have been different if I could have been her sole supply of nutrition?

School is behind me now and I have a job I love. I will, God willing, be able to afford a full 12 weeks of maternity leave. You see the Hubby and I find ourselves in the middle of our nations economic crisis. He became a part of the unemployment crowd halfway through our pregnancy as he was permanently laid off from a job we both thought had excellent job security. What a shock! Now, not only do I want to provide nutritionally and emotionally for our baby but financially I need to breastfeed as well.

So this time with Baby #3 on the way I find myself building determination to "do it right". Perhaps with help from the Freestyle I will be able to confidently return to work knowing that Medela's 2-phase Expression provides more milk in less time. Just imagine, having the freedom to do two things I love at the same time. Providing the best nutrition possible for my baby and working at a job I adore.

So Medela, you ask what I would do if I could pump hands-free, I think I might just start that holiday pie.
